Fatal Shooting: 21-Year-Old Found In Parking Lot In Bridgeport

Police are searching for a suspect after a 21-year-old man was found shot to death in a parking lot in a residential neighborhood in Fairfield County.

Officers were alerted to the incident around 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 4 in Bridgeport at 640 Trumbull Ave., by a ShotSpotter activation and by calls from residents reporting a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police.

The victim, a 21-year-old Bridgeport man, identified as Deron Dacosta, was quickly transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he later died after midnight on Wednesday, April 5, Gilleran said.

The department's Homicide Squad has responded and taken charge of the investigation.

"The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Deron Dacosta’s family and friends," Gilleran said.
